The content available on this site at present is (i) the text of Being Beastly and (ii) a steadily-growing list of articles, reviews and other papers. Being Beastly is a manuscript on the metaphysics and importance of personal identity which was completed in the autumn of 2002 when I was teaching at Oriel College, Oxford. Since I have now ceased to work as a professional philosopher I have become increasingly conscious that it is most unlikely to be published in any other form than this. It is here (with all its faults) simply because quite a few people have asked to read it and this seemed thie easiest way to satisfy the demand. Readers should note that I have not made any changes to take account of post-2002 publications in this area. Although philosophy is only a spare-time activity for me these days, and I don't have a lot of spare time, I do welcome any comments on the text, which may be addressed to me via the email link above. I hope to add other links (both philosophical and not) in due course.
I now work here. |
